Presentation to Dr John Manners of an engraved tankard

Dr John Manners RIP

It was only a few weeks ago that Dr John Manners was presented with an Engraved Tankard to acknowledge his many years of service to CMS and now, with great sadness, I announce his death as he passed away on 20 July 2020.

A family funeral has been held and the hope is to have a Memorial Service to celebrate his life when circumstances allow. Dr John Manners was a Consultant Radiologist and I am sure that he will be remembered as being a quiet, kind and unassuming man. His life was devoted to medicine and he was an excellent doctor who achieved great things for Croydon University Hospital during his time working there. He will be missed by many, especially his wife Gillian and their son Richard.

We have subsequently been informed that John was previously married and had two other children, Robert and Janet. He also had two granddaughters, three grandsons and two great-grandchildren. They are all devastated by their loss and we apologise for omitting this in our original report.

Munk’s Roll

Dr Manners has been added to Munk’s Roll, (now known as Inspiring Physicians), which is a series of obituaries or biographies of fellows from the Royal College of Physicians. First compiled by physician William Munk, the Roll is still updated and maintained to this day.
