Annual Dinner and Review 2026
We returned once again to a restaurant that we had used many times in the past – Chateau Napoleon, now renamed as Coombe Wood House.
The President, Mr Christian Kinmont, welcomed Members and Guests. We went on to have a great evening, with excellent food, wine and service. The President went on to outline his year –
In September 2025, Dr Rebecca Payne gave a talk about the Corneal Donation Pathway at Royal Trinity Hospice. This led to interest from the transplant lead at CUH. Also at this meeting, we had ‘Desert Island Discs’ which was hosted by Dr Nick Ford, with the guest being Miss Ranee Thakar. This was very well received and will hopefully be repeated.
In October, Dr Arif Moghul, Medical Director of the EOC, gave a talk on preparing patients for major elective surgery – concentrating on how to involve the patient in pre-operatively optimising their health.
In November, Professor Sarkhell Radha talked about his Charity work, mainly in the Middle East, elaborating on how he has established orthopaedic care for those who could not otherwise afford medical assistance.
Also in November, Dr Khalid Khan presented his popular Annual Quiz, which was very well attended. The quiz was comfortably won by the ‘Brigstock Celebrity Traitors’ who, in addition, won the prize for the best costumes. Brigstock Practice was presented with the coveted trophy and CMS mugs.
The AGM was held in March 2026, followed by the President giving a talk on the Evolution of Drugs Cheating in Sports. He outlined the dishonest contributions of some of the key institutions and sports doctors.
At the Annual Dinner, the 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Dr Tony Brzezicki. Before the presentation, Dr Mike Mendall gave an amusing outline of all that Dr Brzezicki had achieved over the years. A brief version of this can be found here. Dr Brzezicki was honoured and delighted to receive this richly deserved award.
The President presented gifts to our Honorary Treasurer, Mrs Sandra Hill and our Honorary Secretary, Mrs Anne Pilkington in appreciation of their work and support over the past year.
The President then invited Dr Ruth Clery to step forward so he could officially pass on the role of President to her. He presented her with the CMS President’s Medal and the Gavel. The new President Elect will be Dr Amanda Humphreys, with Mr Kinmont as Vice-President.
The President’s guests at the dinner were Professor Sarkhell Radha, Mr Mohammed Al-Maiyah, Dr Arif Moghul and Dr Ravi Gangone. It is hoped that they will consider membership of CMS.
Professor Sarkhell Radha gave an amusing impromptu speech on behalf of the Guests.
The evening concluded at 11 pm with many saying what an enjoyable evening they had had.
